Unapologetically Kardashian! How The Kardashian Family Is A Role Model For Women Entrepreneurs
The word Kardashians is always bound to stir emotions in people – either negative or positive. We have all read, heard, discussed and criticized how they are perpetuating unrealistic expectations from life or promoting shallow body image or how they are bad role models for the youth. They have been labeled as being narcissistic, dumb, fame-hungry, fake, opportunists, etc. If for a minute we can put aside our judgment towards them, we might have something to learn from them.
Isn’t it fascinating to know how the Kardashian-Jenner clan have successfully created a niche for themselves in the social media and business world? These are all women who have created a very powerful and successful brand around themselves. Some may attribute their success to their inherited legacy from their father but how many success stories do we have of children who took what was given to them to new heights.
So, what is it that sets them apart? What is it that makes them successful? What lessons can women entrepreneurs or women in general take away from them?
There are 4 things in my opinion that set the Kardashians apart. Let’s dive into them:
1. Attitude/Resilience
The first thing that stands out is their sheer grit and resolve. They are constantly living their life in the public eye through their reality show. It isn’t easy to survive in today’s world of social media where there is constant scrutiny, judgment, and online retorts. It takes a certain kind of resilience to not let this affect you and make it your livelihood. They have broken all norms and clichés on how one should live their life. They have an attitude of a winner.
2. Recognize and create opportunities
They wouldn’t be here if they did not know how to capitalize on opportunities that were presented to them. Not only did they recognize it when they saw them but also created when there was none. They have dabbled into various business ventures from having their own reality TV show, owning their own clothing line, video games- some of them successful some not. They never let failures define them. They move on to the next opportunity if something does not pay off. They have created businesses out of things they are passionate about. Hustlers in my mind.
3. Understand your audience
They understand their audience and know how to cater to their needs. Whether it be Kylie’s lip kit to achieve fuller lips or Khloe’s denim line for curvaceous women. They know their strengths and how to use them to engage people. They sell a dream of what life could be.
4. Family and/or Support System
All this success could not be achieved or sustained without a support system. Kardashians are big on family. They are a super close-knit bunch. They stand for each other in good times and bad. They have not shied away from using each other’s fame and success to help each other grow and be successful. They show you that despite being a woman, you can have a family and still be successful entrepreneurs. It does not have to be either-or.
So, go be unapologetically yourself. Follow your dreams and let nobody tell you, you can’t have it all.
