How Do You Achieve Results With Your Team
"Fuck the haters, reward the makers."
Getting results is one of the most important factors in doing things the right way, because when you get results you feel good about what you are doing.
Life isn’t very linear.
What I mean by that is that there are many steps you can take that will take you a variety of places–it’s not always a straight line. When you work with a team of people you will encounter a variety of skill sets, personalities, and unique perspectives.
It’s not common that you find yourself agreeing on everything.
There is no one right answer for every unique situation, or how to handle each individual person. Additionally, you will need to find a way to work together to achieve something that is even more uncommon–great results.
Results are the byproduct of hard work, and whenever you work with your team, you need to be able to lead by example. When you step up to the plate and show your team the type of intensity that they need to have, everyone feels better about following suit.
Even if you don’t know how to communicate well with your team at first, showing up and consistently putting in the work is one of the best ways to actually make a difference and to lead by example.
Leaders are seen working, or they are seen being lazy. As a role model, you aren’t being depended on to come up with all of the ideas–that’s what your team is there for. Instead, as a leader, you are able to create a rhythm and tempo to what the culture around the office should be like.
This is especially true if you work with remote employees like me. I also work with a team locally, but being able to know that all of my employees are following my example, keeps me on my toes.
However, I try to let the work speak for itself, and I suggest that you do the same with your team.
Because when the focus is on the work and the results, everyone wins. It’s about empowering your team to be able to put in the effort to actually get the outcome, not about showing off what you are doing.
If you are truly the head of the team and are able to lead effectively, you will naturally inspire the other people around you.
A lot of people thought that I was all talk. As a young kid, this may have been pretty accurate. However, as I learned more about myself, and about what I needed to become the best entrepreneur that I could, I learned that you have to follow that talk up with actions. You can’t just tell people what you are going to do you have to show them. Sure, I won’t achieve every goal, dream but I’ll do my best to get to as many as possible because after all, I’m only human.
There are many days where I don’t want to do the work. I wish I could just stay in bed all day, lay around, and get more than four hours of sleep. But I know that if I do that, what I want to do, and who I want to be will slip further and further away from me.
So in order to be the best I can, I stay motivated by being accountable to my team.
I have to be congruent, I have to be honest, and I have to show up as much as possible every single day.
If I don’t then I know that I don’t deserve to be the best. And I am letting everyone on my team down.
So, I wake up at 4:30 in the morning every morning and by noon I’ve already gotten in five hours of work and a workout.
I know what it takes to achieve my goals, and I know that I am nothing without my team.
People will always judge you, especially when they can’t achieve something for themselves. If they can’t achieve something for themselves, then they will try to deconstruct your arguments, publicly criticize you, or tell you that you are wasting your time.
Instead of focusing on them, focus on being grateful for the amazing team that you have created, and for how awesome the people who are helping you to build your vision truly are.
The more you spend time rewarding the ones who’ve been with you, the less time you will have to be sidetracked by haters.
